British Foreign Secretary Says the Free World Must Escalate Support For Ukraine, While a NATO Leak Suggests That the Alliance, Despite Rhetoric, is Afraid to Send Heavy Weapons
While Henry Kissinger and other elites at Davos say it's time for Ukraine to negotiate with the aggressor Russia, whose army has committed genocidal acts against Ukrainians, the UK's foreign secretary says the opposite: "We can no longer take our foot off the accelerator."
"We must be relentless in securing Ukraine's victory with military assistance and sanctions," says British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss. "Now we can no longer take our foot off the gas pedal. We must prevent a protracted and increasingly painful conflict in Ukraine from developing."
She’s in Bosnia and Herzegovina today to rally support from countries who understand the Moscow threat.
"We must all learn the lessons of history," she says.
MEANWHILE, German media DPA reported that some NATO countries have quietly agreed not to send the most effective weapons to Ukraine, out of fear that such actions could stoke Russian fury.
"There is an informal agreement between some NATO countries not to supply certain types of weapons to Ukraine …
“There are fears, for example, that Russia may officially consider the supply of Western battle tanks and combat aircraft as entry into the war, and then take military retaliatory measures. Weapons systems of this type have not yet been delivered to Ukraine,” DPA reports.
And speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davis, Henry Kissinger, the 98 year-old former US Secretary of State, said that Ukraine needs to negotiate with Russia and give up some of its territory, in response to the Russian assaults on Ukrainian cities and villages.
Kissinger said it would be terrible for the west to get swept up in the pro-Ukraine “mood of the moment.”
He called for Ukraine to negotiate with Russia, because, he said, the world needs Russia as a power. But he misses a possibility:
Maybe, say, a free, civilised, and prosperous Ukraine will make for better Europe, a Europe that doesn’t have to live in perpetual fear of a Moscow invasion.
Kissinger, in the 1970s, helped orchestrate US policy that turned away from Taiwan toward communist China. Now, Beijing, like Moscow to Ukraine, threatens Taiwan’s independence and existence.
"We’re seeing the worst of Europe," in the weakening support for Ukraine, says the German vice chancellor, contra Kissinger.

A Chilling Development: Hungary’s Orban, a Putin Ally, Declares State of Emergency Because of the ‘Ukraine War’
BY JOE LINDSLEY, Ukrainian Freedom News
This is a strange development. Hungary's Orban is an ally of Putin. Orban has been blocking the European Union's attempt to issue an embargo on Russian oil.
Last week, Orban attended a conference in Budapest of American conservatives, a conference that officially made little reference to Russia's war on Ukraine—as though what's happening in Ukraine is not a major problem for the world.
The event included a video call-in from Fox News's Tucker Carlson, one of America's leading opponents of Ukrainian freedom who has said he doesn't mind if Russia wins. Tucker spent a week hosting his show in Budapest last year, claiming that Hungary was one of the freest countries in the world
(By all accounts, Ukraine was a freer place in the pandemic than Hungary, where Orban rules with iron, clamping down on free speech and free press)
Furthermore, Hungary has long wanted to take the Ukrainian territory of Transcarpathia, and its capital Uzhhorod. Like much of western Ukraine, that land was once subject to the Austro-Hungarian empire. Hungary has for years given a form of passport to Ukrainian residents of that region on the other side of the Carpathian mountains.
At the beginning of the war, Hungary began to line up troops along its border with Ukraine.
And now this state of emergency ...
Putin has worked with Belarus to attack Ukraine. Does he have plans with his friend Orban?

Guest: Drew Pavlou, Australian activist and Ukraine supporter who was arrested for criticising the Chinese dictator in Sydney
Ukrainian Zakhar Pikh and American Joe Lindsley speak with Australian activist Drew Pavlou. They discuss how the ‘fascist pact of steel between China and Russia’ threatens liberty in Australia and Europe, the lockdowns in Australia, Ukrainian freedom, and who’s afraid of Putin.
“If we want to put an end to economic chaos put an end to Putin’s regime”
“Ukraine can deliver the decisive blow for liberty.”
“If you Ukrainians are willing to die to defend the whole world from dictatorship and fascism, how can people be too lazy to vote or protest? People need to start taking their own freedom seriously”

Values Over Interests: What Lessons Is The World Learning From Ukraine?
BY KHRYSTYNA HOGOL, translated by VITALII HOLICH, Lviv Now
Why did Russia’s war against Ukraine become possible in the 21st century? What world rules did not work and what lessons the world will learn after Russia’s aggression and crimes? Here, we present the insights from Valerii Pekar, a publicist, management expert and lecturer at the Kyiv-Mohyla Business School.
Not only did European politicians fail to organize a system of international relations that would prevent wars, but so did European intellectuals. This is an important thing, and it’s still not noticed. European intellectuals, who have devoted their entire lives to creating a system in which war would be impossible, have developed methods of dialogue between countries, deep philosophical concepts that would allow a better understanding of each other. But all this could not prevent a great war in Europe.

Here’s a Ukrainian Song For You
Skyrabin, killed in a car accident in 2016, remains one of Ukraine’s most popular musicians. Many believe he was murdered due to his loud criticism of corrupt pro-Russian oligarchs.
“Your ears have long been accustomed to other people's music
“A grimace of pain froze on your lips
“Why am I still here - I want to be free for a long time!”
