War Day 748: A Day of Trouble in Russia; Plus: What Did the Pope Say?
🇺🇦 Every Day Until Victory on Chicago’s WGN Radio with Bob Sirott: Joe Lindsley reports every single weekday 10 minutes from Ukraine 🎙️ Tuesday 12 March 2024
Drones attack Russian infrastructure, the Freedom of Russia legion gains a foothold in Russia, a Moscow plane or maybe two falls out of the sky. Meanwhile, an upset listener says I play the blame game too often. And we discuss Pope Francis's surrender comments and freedom-champion Enes Freedom's lack of comments about Ukraine.

People of Ukraine: A Wounded Warrior Punches Back
Here’s the story of “Serhii the Ukrainian,” a soldier from Nikopol, aka Victory City, wounded in battle but who’s been training to get back to fighting form.
Every day, Ukrainians are a living “self-help guide” on how to do great things in the most difficult of circumstances. That’s the spirit I see around me every day in Ukraine.
UKRAINIAN FREEDOM VOICES
Mykola Belychev, a Roman Catholic priest in oft-attacked Kharkiv, 30 miles from Russia:
in résponse to Pope Francis’s reported suggested that Ukraine be the bigger person and raise the white flag:
"An uncomfortable mirror", or what does the latest scandal around Pope Francis show us?After reflecting and considering the vakhanalia in the media and social networks surrounding insulting the Pope, I have come to some conclusions I am ready to share: 1) Yes, the Pope could not avoid the trap in the middle of an interview. Made a mistake that is very unpleasant for us. His and our joint. Little did we pray for him. 2) In our world and in our church simple and holy people can't be bishops, especially cardinals or popes. 3) The perfect ruler today who is completely suitable for the audience is a cynical Donald Trump.
Now, in turn, I explain:
1. I purposely reread the snippet where it talks about the "white flag". Here's a quote taken from the UP website:
Lorenzo Buckella asks the Pope: "In Ukraine there are those who call for the courage to surrender, to show the white flag. But others say it legitimizes the strongest. What do you think? ".
Francis: "This is an interpretation. But I think stronger is the one who sees the situation, who thinks about the people, who have the courage of the white flag to negotiate.
As you can see, the issue is built as if in Ukraine there are "brave" people who want negotiations and a ceasefire, but they are hindered by "brave" those who consider it legitimization of the "right of the strong". In this case, the answer itself "nakiduêt .sâ": courage is to care about people. But (!!! ) this is double manipulation - first, show me those, brave who in Ukraine want negotiations with Russia? Secondly, if you read further, it seems that the correspondent is talking about the situation when Ukraine has ALREADY lost and it is only to admit and not to kill people in vain... You can appreciate this approach yourself.
I absolutely agree with our Bishop Paul Honcharuk, that the Pope should not have answered SUCH a question, he should have corrected the correspondent. But...
And here we go smoothly to point 2: To prevent this, you must NOT trust people; you must CLEARLY and ALWAYS expect the interlocutor to manipulate and try to use you and be, call it "sensitive". Although other, less censored words are spoken. We think of others, as they say, "to the extent of our own distraction", and therefore you have to get yourself into shit, try to water others down with it, and then you will be "sensitive", or rather cynical and ******** hm, stuck in shit.
And Francis is not like that. He is a humble priest and then a bishop who never had his own car and went to work by bus. Who grew up in another, cleaner world. Who was always kind, gentle and able to serve the poor and wash the feet of thieves. Who wished to accept all sinners as they are. This is why it’s hard for him to be the Pope in our sick world. That's why it's easily caught in different traps time after time and dumped with shit over and over again. And most of all those who should defend him.
In this sense, we clearly underestimated the greatness of the previous popes - John Paul II and Benedict XVI. They were hardened by the Soviet Union and the Cold War, so they were able to fight back and "not talk unnecessary". But they were also caught on trifles. I remember well that great scandal surrounding the document of the Congregation of Belief (Ratzinger was its chairman then) when everyone was discussing the 56th Amendment (!!! )... Yup...
That's why Francisco has no chance to live his age peacefully. And we, even though we say that we so want the holy priests, bishops and popes, in reality we cannot have them. After all, as soon as someone simple and normal comes forward, they immediately get caught doing something, then trampled and mixed with shit. And those who call themselves Christians will applaud or shout, as in the Gospel in Pilate's court: "Crucified!" Crucify Him ! "
Therefore, item 3: In this case, the perfect quilt is Donald Trump. Absolutely cynical and shameless who can peacefully break all rules and laws if seen to benefit him. Which one will sue everyone (mostly successfully), and scandals will only be accepted as free advertising. Who will go to power for power itself. Who mixes anybody with shit himself and be ready to fight 24/7. And so it will, because we ourselves build such a sick world... So say goodbye to the expectations of having holy bishops, presidents and so on.. It's not for us. Unless - a miracle happens, the size of St. Gregory the Great, who was prefect of Rome BEFORE becoming Pope, and thus was able to fight off enemies and sneaky manipulators.
But think about it, do you really want to live in THAT kind of world? Maybe it's enough to catch on words, mix with shit and shout: Shame! Crucify yourself! Don't you? Lord Jesus Christ accepted all of this so we could have a chance to come back and fix our lives. And that's what you need to do. Therefore, in the name of Jesus Christ I urge everyone who reads these words: cooperate for the salvation of the world, especially Ukraine. Repentance for all, also for Pope Francis and for our leaders. Let us pray for our defenders. Enough with the scandals. Death and destruction are at the door step.
