Correcting Fake News About Ukraine
“The Ukrainians never lost what it meant to be human before capitalism took over.”
Andrew Bustamante, @everydayspy , former CIA spy and a smart thinker, tells podcast host Shawn Ryan, @shawnryanshow a thoughtful Navy Seal Veteran, that Ukraine is an un-democratic third-world country.
These are smart guys but these notions are false. I know it because I’ve been in Ukraine since the pandemic started. It is a telling that that even as Russia continues to bomb the country, many Ukrainian refugees have returned home from abroad. Life is still somehow richer here.
Ukraine is an example of true democracy, where neither totalitarian dictators nor corporate elite control the people, despite ongoing attempts. This is Ukraine's 'Maidan,' or public square mentality: As an American who lived in Ukraine for many years told me last week, “The Ukrainians never lost what it meant to be human before capitalism took over.”
Ukraine's Revolution of Dignity was different from many modern protests for two reasons: (1) it actually worked. In fact, it worked so well that Russia can only try to destroy it with billions of dollars of weapons. And (2) it was humane. The protestors didn't trash their cities. They worked together for their common goal.

Top Republican: 60 percent of ‘Ukraine Funding’ goes to U.S.
by Joe Lindsley
Big news: US support for Ukraine is much, much less than Ukraine-flag waving politicians claim: Rep. Michael McCaul, chairman of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee reveals that 60% of US 'Ukraine funding' goes to the USA.
And the congressman asks this essential and urgent question:
“Is [the Biden administration's objective] to drag this thing out, which is precisely what Vladimir Putin wants?"
The answer to this matters a lot. When many Americans hear that 100 billion is being spent on Ukraine, they get tired of supporting the cause. Fact is, in typical Washington style, politicians shove other things into Ukraine bills. Much of the "Ukraine spending" is on defense purchases America was going to make anyway.
Yes, the spending is making the USA stronger and the smaller portion going to Ukraine has helped free people fight back against a genocidal menace.
But the dishonesty about the spending is weakening support. If you want that support to be effective, then you should want quick victory.
Who doesn't want a quick victory? Perhaps the following:
—defense contractors and war-profiteers
—politicians who use the Ukraine issue to cover their sins
—people who believe that America is safest when there is always a long far-away war
—people who think it's a safer policy to appease tyrants in Moscow and Beijing
—people who secretly support Russian interests
—Russia

Ukrainians are willing to do the work. They just need the tools.

The Information We Cannot Find
from Wednesday 29 March: Joe Lindsley’s daily Ukraine report on Chicago's WGN Radio with Bob Sirott
Putin benefits from a war of attrition, says warfare expert Prof. Phillips O'Brien. But Ukraine needs quick victory, before it bleeds out.
Indeed, beware propaganda everywhere: Washington support for Ukraine might not be what it seems. This is damn frustrating. After months of trying, I still cannot get precise figures from DC officials. And after more than a year on the ground in the war, I see a gap between what is pledged and what is received.
As the weapons trickle in, Ukraine's best and brightest are giving lives and limbs.
Meanwhile: Should Zelenskiy reach out to Beijing, which wants to destroy Taiwan the same way Moscow wants to destroy Ukraine?
