Progressives in Congress Cave to Putin Propaganda
What did Reagan and Churchill say about appeasement?
Daily Ukrainian Freedom News Report on Chicago’s WGN Radio: Putin Shrewdly Shifts Narrative, Some in Congress Comply
On Monday, the Kremlin put out a ridiculous statement saying that *Ukraine* would use a dirty nuclear bomb. Even the Kremlin knows everyone sees this as a lie, but it has its intended effect: making people scared.
Indeed, within hours, even vehement supporters of Ukraine in Congress, all members of the progressive caucus, wrote a letter to President Biden calling for Ukraine to negotiate with Russia—to appease the tyrannical bully.
—The members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus use the passive voice, saying, "The nuclear threat has been estimated to be the greatest since the Cold War." Who estimates it? Putin.
Later Tuesday, the members of Congress who signed that letter retracted it, courageously blaming it on "staff."
Their appeasement rhetoric stands in clear contrast to the leadership of Ronald Reagan and Winston Churchill, who were for a while voices in the wilderness against surrendering to bullies.
As Ronald Reagan said in his 1964 Time for Choosing Speech:
“We cannot buy our security, our freedom from the threat of the bomb by committing an immorality so great as saying to a billion human beings now enslaved behind the Iron Curtain, "Give up your dreams of freedom because to save our own skins, we're willing to make a deal with your slave masters."
***There's only one guaranteed way you can have peace,” he said, - “and you can have it in the next second - surrender.” ***
But Reagan added, “ every lesson of history tells us that the greater risk lies in appeasement, “
That's why Ukrainians and all people who want freedom stand together.
The more a bully gets away with his threats, the more and greater his threats will be.
—Why, as an American, am I here in Ukraine, I asked. Am I being stupid? Then I realized everything I learned about American history, all of our talk about freedom, requires me to support Ukraine.
