The only American show live from Ukraine every weekday of the war, daily on Chicago’s WGN Radio and across social media. Read this to know what’s happening …
Today’s questions:
💥 How much longer can Ukraine hold out with limited Western support, while NATO members like Lithuania prepare for the worst by fortifying against Russia?
🌍 With Russian meddling in elections occuring this week in Moldova and Georgia, how long before Putin’s influence spreads further across Europe—are we doing enough to stop it?
🛑 If Trump says 'Ukraine is gone,' why do cities like Kharkiv remain standing, defiant, and full of life despite relentless Russian attacks?
Please forward to friends!
RADIO WAR DAY 970: Kharkiv Shows That Ukraine is Not Gone

KHARKIV—I arrived in this oft-bombed but still energetic city 30 miles from Russia after a 14 hour train journey from Lviv, in part to show that contrary to what Trump has been saying, Ukraine is not gone.
🔻 Biden’s Mixed Signals on Ukraine Aid:
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin arrives in Kyiv as the Biden administration continues to send long-promised resources to Ukraine, but the restrictions on long-range strikes are still in place. Can Ukraine win if it’s not allowed to fully fight back?
🕰 16 Hours Without Bombs in Kharkiv:
Kharkiv, 30 miles from Russia, endures daily bombings. Last night, three destructive glide bombs hit a shopping center, shaking the city and cutting power. Even amid the missile strikes, I was in a shelter-bar where volunteers from around Ukraine and the world were sharing drinks and laughs: the spirits are strong.
💥 “Ukraine Is Not Gone”:
Former President Trump recently claimed Ukraine is gone, echoing Russian narratives. And this is precisely why I made the 14 hour train journey to Kharkiv, despite the destruction, the city is full of energy and life: immaculate parks, bombed buildings already rebuilt, businesses carrying on. Ukraine may be bruised, but it is far from being a lost cause—even in an oft-bombed city just 30 miles from Russia.
🛡 Lithuania Prepares for the Worst:
Even NATO members like Lithuania are fortifying against potential Russian aggression. "Dragon’s teeth"—tank-stopping obstacles—are being placed on bridges and roads along the border with Russia’s Kaliningrad colony in Europe, separated by 400 miles from the mass of Russia. NATO membership alone doesn’t ease the Lithuanian fears.
🌍 Russian Meddling Spreads:
In Moldova and Georgia, Russian efforts to destabilize elections are intensifying. Russian money flows into these regions to influence outcomes, continuing the Kremlin’s pattern of undermining Europe’s democratic processes. Moldovan pro-independence president Maia Sandu has passed the runoff stage of the election but still faces Russian opposition. In Georgia, hundreds of thousands have taken to the streets, including the nation's pro-freedom president, in defiance of the Russian-paid oligarchs who control the parliament. Georgia has elections October 26.
🏥 Words Matter in Ukraine:
As I discussed with some local doctors in a Kharkiv shelter during a Russian glide bomb assault, in Ukrainian, the word for hospital is “likarnya,” meaning “place of healing.” In Russian, it’s “bolnitsa”—“place of pain.” This linguistic difference mirrors the broader divide in how these nations view life.
✉️ Support from the Baltics and Chicago’s Lithuanian Community:
A listener from Chicago’s large Lithuanian community writes in to express solidarity with Ukraine, noting her family’s fear that the Baltics will be next on Putin’s list. Chicago remains a vital hub for Ukrainian support, both emotionally and financially.

Joseph Lindsley - Questions on Ukraine No One is Asking the Presidential Candidates Harris and Trump
⚔️ Why does the Biden administration continue blocking Ukraine from hitting Russian military targets deep within Russia while Moscow relentlessly strikes Ukrainian cities?
💣 As Ukrainian cities stand bruised but not broken, why does Donald Trump keep repeating that all Ukrainian cities are 'destroyed'?
🤯 How has Russia managed to get North Korean troops on European soil, and why does this not trigger a Western red line?
⚡ With the Czech Republic sending billions to Russia for energy while aiding Ukraine, are Western nations funding both sides of this war?
Can’t hit ammo depots or factories in Russia for Shaheds with missiles, that’s WW3
% of Ukraine, the West allows Russia to strike with Russian Missiles, North Korean Missiles, and Iranian Drones - 100%
% of Russia, the West allows Ukraine to strike with long range missiles - 0%
Washington Stops UK from Helping Ukraine, But Assists Russia:
The USA won’t let Ukraine use British-made weapons to hit Russian launch points, because the weapons contain some American components. Shouldn’t the USA be more concerned that many Russian missiles hitting Ukraine have American components?
Nukes or Nato?
Nukes or NATO—what’s it mean? Simple: If NATO doesn’t step up and welcome the one country standing against tyranny, the world stays under nuclear blackmail.
If NATO embraces Ukraine, proven over 2.5 years, we break free from that threat.
