DAILY UKRAINE REPORT ON CHICAGO’S WGN RADIO:
War Day 663: Pizza-Making Sniper, Song-writing Ohioan, Once-wounded Warrior, Freedom-focused Brit
🇺🇦 600+ DAYS OF WAR REPORTING on Chicago's WGN Radio with host Bob Sirott and reporter Joe Lindsley, the only American reporting in Ukraine every single day until victory 🎙️ from Monday 18 December 2023
"The day of victory will be the day of tears, but now is the time for cheerful defiance."
A pizza maker who has been conscripted to fight makes his last pies for awhile. A musician from Ohio gives Ukrainians a moment of recharge. A badly wounded soldier works to return to fighting form. And a British veteran named Reg, a warrior from Wales, thanks listeners for their donations that helped secure a truck for his unit.
"While the Western halls of power and influence continue to defer and delay," Reg says, "it’s the freedom-loving citizens like yourself that bridge the gap to restore the Ukrainian faith in the fact that this world is indeed behind them and always will be.”
War Day 660: Russia Fears Ukraine's Resilience | EU Talks, Weapon Shortages, Battle of Ideologies!
🇺🇦 600+ DAYS OF WAR REPORTING on Chicago's WGN Radio with host Bob Sirott and reporter Joe Lindsley, the only American reporting in Ukraine every single day until victory 🎙️ from Friday 15 December 2023
"Remember my words: Russia will disappear when the Ukrainian sun rises" - Dzhokhar Dudayev, Chechen leader, slain by Russia EU begins talks with Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova, all partially occupied by Russia. But does it matter if the free world won't send Ukraine the weapons it needs?
Beyond EU discussions: Amid European upheaval, Ukraine stands strong against Russian onslaught. Russians attempt to break society with rockets and psychological warfare. Last Thursday, alarms heightned the sense of impending danger.
Host Bob Sirott reads listener letters praising this daily Ukraine report, amid calls for its cancellation. The Russia-Ukraine war extends beyond these two countriees, representing opposing views of human life: a vertical tyrannical model versus a free horizontal model.
War Day 658: Why I Am Angry at Washington
Today's broadcast on WGN was interrupted.
Every single weekday of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, since February 24, 2022, I have made a daily report on Chicago's WGN Radio with host Bob Sirott. Now, in this moment when on the ground clarity is needed more than ever, I was unable to make my report today.
Russians have launched cyberattacks on Ukraine the past couple days, in addition to missile assaults on Kyiv and the usual atrocities near the front. I was unable to connect today to the radio station so this video is my response, not only to the Russians, but also to those in Washington who are unable to find their moral courage.
I think the Ukrainian issue is the first time in ages that Washington, DC, has encountered a real democratic spirit: not only people who absolutely refuse to surrender their freedom, but also politicians like Zelenskiy who actually represent those freedom-loving people. Both Republicans and Democrats are afraid to give Ukraine what it needs to win, to defeat Russia.
Each side blames the other, but they want their long-war defense dollars, they want never to have to make a difficult moral decision, and they still want some of the magic of Zelenskiy, because it's so rare they meet someone genuine, because they are fake.
West's indecision, war freezing over. Will the Russians repeat the tactics of the 2nd Chechen war?
Yet another laughable attempt at attacking a Ukrainian city by the Ruzzian military. A swarm of Iranian-made drones launched from occupied Crimea was destroyed by AU antiaircraft batteries causing only minor damage. An estimated 32 million dollars worth of drones managed to damage a suburban cottage in the Kyiv region. Our friend Joe Lindsley tells us about the attack and we also discuss a trip of President Wolodymyr Zelenskyy to Argentina, where he attended the inauguration of president Javier Milei and also met with Hungarian president Victor Orban.
