Russians Allowed to Participate in Paris 2024 Olympics
**25,000 views so far: please help us share and spread the word**
Joe Lindsley joined “Rock Rachon” to talk about the brand new Challenger 2 tanks arriving in Ukraine. What will this new batch of armor bring to The Armed Forces of Ukraine? Should the Russians fear them?
The tanks are big but the biggest story we discuss with Joe is the decision of the IOC to allow Russian and Belarussian athletes to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This decision is considered as a “slap in the face” in Ukraine – to say the least.
Plus: We discuss China. Should Ukraine seek support from a country that has no regard for freedom?
DAILY WAR JOURNAL—ON CHICAGO’S WGN RADIO:
The Information We Cannot Find
from Wednesday 29 March: Joe Lindsley’s daily Ukraine report on Chicago's WGN Radio with Bob Sirott
Putin benefits from a war of attrition, says warfare expert Prof. Phillips O'Brien. But Ukraine needs quick victory, before it bleeds out.
Indeed, beware propaganda everywhere: Washington support for Ukraine might not be what it seems. This is damn frustrating. After months of trying, I still cannot get precise figures from DC officials. And after more than a year on the ground in the war, I see a gap between what is pledged and what is received.
As the weapons trickle in, Ukraine's best and brightest are giving lives and limbs.
Meanwhile: Should Zelenskiy reach out to Beijing, which wants to destroy Taiwan the same way Moscow wants to destroy Ukraine?
Lviv: City of Dreams
Plus: We talk about sleep in war-time, with a little poem about the dreamy, sleep-and-coffee loving city of Lviv.
Last week a listener, a Chicago cardiologist, wrote in asking about whether people are able to sleep well in war-time. Here’s one perspective from a Ukrainian:
Kostyantyn Kaposhylin is a lawyer, volunteer, and poet who lived under Russian occupation in his native city of Kherson for many months. Kherson is an early-rising city. Lviv, where he lives now, is not. He wrote these words about the sleeping patterns of the Leopolitans, the people of Lviv:
“I have such a dream in Lviv - I wake up while all lviv is deep in the kingdom of morpheus.” — that’s the greek god of dreams and sleep.
“I am a real lark in this Galician owl nursery where a business meeting at 8.30am is equivalent to torture and at 9.00 am there is hardly any open cafe.
“Some say the late awakening in the Lion City is related to atmospheric pressure, mountain climate and traditions of special courtesy in character, some kind of politeness that’s more like tact and restraint.
“But it seems to me that lviv residents just like to sleep.
While … the Lviviani in their dreams are like Indiana Jones running through the rainforest in search of the Holy Grail … I , awake, count the stars in the sky and the number of lights on outside my window, I listen quietly to Ramstein [which is not very soft German music] and trying to solve the secrets of this beautiful city of wind, blowing its own courtesy to the most remote corners of the universe.
Good morning, Lviv! Even though you don’t hear me cause you don’t wake up til 8 or 9 .. Sleep while it's is sweet, and I'll make tea for myself because [unlike you] I don't drink any coffee at all. Probably this why I can't learn to be polite. And don't want to )
War Day 400: What’s the Real Story of the Russian Monks in Kyiv?
from Thursday 30 March: My daily Ukraine report on Chicago's WGN Radio with Bob Sirott
As Moscow's monks refuse to leave the ancient Lavra monastery in Kyiv, we talk about the ancient history of the Kievan Rus—and how for centuries Moscow has been trying to control the free people of Ukrainian lands. Plus: As an American journalist here, am I afraid of Russian spies? We also discuss the Russian capture of an American Wall Street Journal news reporter.
See What It's Like to Be in a Bakhmut Home, Defending Versus the Russians
I was in homes in Bakhmut just like this in the summer. Now what once were homes are the battlefield. Ukrainian war-time citizen Telegram Channel Ищи своих ("Look out for your own") shared this video: https://t.me/rf200_nooow/16601
This also shows why thermal vision, often hard for Ukrainians to obtain, is essential.
