"Local supporters of Ukraine urge passage of aid for war-torn nation,"says a headline in the Chicago Tribune. Yes, Ukraine is war-torn, but is that always the only adjective we can use? Can we say "defiant nation"? Because that is the truth: Ukraine has against the odds held on.
Against the odds, just today we heard that Ukraine destroyed yet another of Russia's ships. Ukraine's defiance matters. It shows that the foreign support and Ukrainian spirit are succeeding—if everyone keeps pressing on.
Ukrainians appreciate America's border situation. They know full well what happens when your border is not secure. Is there a way these borders can be protected together, not with the usual Washington delays but actually solving the problems?
Today we also listen to "Our Lady of the Legion," from Luxembourgish band Rome, who have a whole album, Gates of Europe, dedicated to Ukraine.

Yesterday on Spaces on X, Elon Musk, of SpaceX and X, hosted three U.S. Senators to discuss Ukraine. The Founding Fathers designed the Senate to be the more cerebral branch of government, focused on foreign affairs, but Senator JD Vance and friends showed a total disregard of the reality.
Vance claims that Ukraine is depleting the US defense supply. The opposite is true: 2023 was the best year ever for US defense sales. In fact, the White House, by refusing to send Ukraine what it needs for real victory, is helping the American defense industry prosper like never before.
On the left and the right, politicians are profiting while delaying or denying support to the world's actual freedom-fighters. Meanwhile, Musks's SpaceX denies Starlink capablilities to Ukraine but permits them to Russia.

Politicians on Left and Right are Both Avoiding Issue of how to Achieve a Victory.
First in a new series of monthly conversations on Silicon Curtain, about how Ukrainians are redefining the ideas of freedom and democracy, and why Ukraine must not be allowed to fall under Russian control. Politicians across the political spectrum are not taking the threat to the international order seriously enough. The war in Ukraine, despite it scale and intensity is still being classed as a regional conflict between neighbouring countries, not as a global struggle for values and power.
We are in a dangerous place, where politicians see freedom as a political football, as a commodity and a weapon to be traded and weided. The concept of freedom is being used to grow pivilege and wealth of the few, rather than the many, and to diminish, rather than multiple the sum total of freedom in the world. Politicians are 'freedom signalling', but not taking actions that enhance and expand freedom.

💡 Putin's claimed to try to freeze the war with #Ukraine
Through direct talks with the #USA, which were rejected.
Here's why Putin is desperate 👇
Of course, Ukraine is an independent sovereign nation.
And is the only one who should be addressed.
But the real point here is:
🚨 Russia is unable to sustain a prolonged war
Evident from their failed attempts to coerce Ukraine into surrender.
And their #propaganda screaming to 'negotiate' 📣
The Russian #economy, reliant on a war-based model, faces bleak long-term prospects compared to global trends. While industries worldwide invest in IT, AI and new #technology in general,
💥 Russia is retrofitting T-62 and T-55 tanks, which after costly deployment get blown up the very next month. I doubt that I have to explain too much how much “value” this produces for humankind in the 21st Century.
If the Russian economy wants to have even a theoretical chance of survival then it needs the war to end right now.
⛽ And then there's the Ukrainian efforts to undermine the Russian #energy sector. Small efforts to destroy Russian energy ports and #infrastructure already caused significant losses. Russia can barely repair its current equipment and when it comes to extending their production facilities in the energy sector they are (or were) completely reliant on Western companies. When Ukrainians succeed in destroying energy ports, which are sitting ducks, then the fuel of Russia’s war economy is drained.
📉 The situation for the Russian work force is dire as well. The Russian “gains” in Ukraine are still minuscule if at all and come at a cost which are beyond any reasonable cost-benefit ratio. Every 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 Russian soldier is another loss for the economy.
Even the (still) living Russian soldier is not available for the economy and we haven’t even covered the hundreds of thousands permanently maimed who will need a lifetime of care.
😈 Russia is in a far worse shape than many realize. This war, which was started by Putin, is a Vietnam and Afghanistan on steroids. The Soviet Union, which was 10 times more powerful and had back then far less competition when it comes to industrial capacity, couldn’t survive this kind of grind.
Behind closed doors, Russia’s oligarchy is begging for a pause.
🚫 And it's why Putin's western minions are desperate to block aid, too.
The #Strategy is clear: support Ukraine, escalate #military aid, reinforce sanctions, and confront Putin with the reality of his inevitable defeat.
Inflict maximum casualties, until Russia begins to eat itself.
Just as it did during the fall of the Tsars and Soviets.
And if the bunker grandpa responds by saying
"Only over my 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝 body" then so be it.
