Yesterday, YouTube removed the yet-to-be public video broadcast of my Tuesday Ukraine report with Chicago’s WGN Radio. They said we broke a misinformation policy but did not specify. We appealed, but were again denied, with no further information. The video has been removed, and we are not allowed to post for a week.
You can view the banned video here on Instagram. Please let us know if you have any idea why maybe it was banned.
Because we don’t know why YouTube penalized us, any future videos could easily be removed—and YouTube could permanently ban us. So amid all else going on, we must sort this out.
Frustrated by the news—we’d spent many hours working to grow our YouTube presence—I took a walk in Lviv to the amazing Front Line Kitchen—in a small courtyard where on a cool grey May day, volunteers from all over the world sat or stood in the fresh air chopping mushrooms, carrots, and potatoes. I smelled the aromas and listened to women and men, from their 20s to their 60s, chopping and chatting from Italy, Ohio, Michigan, Scotland, Germany, Ukraine. Facing fear, here to help—and actually, together, unafraid.
What an encouraging sight! They were preparing food that they will dry and package and deliver to the trenches in Bakhmut, in Zaporizhzhia, in Khersonshchyna.
They handed me a coffee—it is a place of hospitality—and now I get back to work on sharing the excellent reality of this effort for freedom.
Because YouTube integrates so nicely with Substack, unlike Twitter and Telegram, our team of volunteers needs to have a re-think on how to make this newsletter.

Fearful Russians Think They Can Subdue Ukrainians With Fear. It Doesn't Work
BY JOE LINDSLEY | UKRAINIAN FREEDOM NEWS
Russia is a society where everyone lives in fear, which is why they think fear will work as a tactic on Ukrainians. Here we look at scenes from Uman, which the Russians hit on Friday.
Plus: the battle within Ukraine’s military, between the young innovators and the old-Soviet mindset.
And: I think propaganda is at the most feverish level since Russia’s full-scale invasion. Something is cooking
… from 28 April, war day 429: my Ukraine report on Chicago's @wgnradio with Bob Sirott, delivered every weekday since Russia's full-scale invasion
Ukrainians Are Forcing the World to Ask the Question: Do We Want Freedom or Illusion of Security?
Ukrainians pose the world an uncomfortable question: Do we actually believe in freedom, or do we believe in the “illusion of security"?
Many American freedom-lovers, or maybe freedom-talkers, like comedian JP Sears mock Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukrainian people, the archetype of democracy face, the archetype of totalitarianism, Russia.
So what do we want, freedom or the illusion of security? from our Ukraine report on Poland's @TVPWorld with Michał Rachon. Full episode available here.
Tucker Carlson, Ukraine, and me: Joe Lindsley
If Tucker Carlson truly wants a post-Fox transformation, I invite him to Ukraine. I say here he will find human excellence, fierce democracy, and freedom-lovers. But beyond all that he can also find something more basic: the facts.
BY JOE LINDSLEY | UKRAINIAN FREEDOM NEWS
Tucker Carlson seems to be on the side of the folk. He denounces the American oligarchy that takes advantage of citizen and consumer, even as he is fully a part of it: extracting huge amounts of American attention in return for little reliable information.
