What is the question hardly anyone wants to ask?

After many seasons of silliness in Washington, DC, Zelenskiy’s speech to Congress was a moment of consequence.
Here are excerpts from my broadcast today from Ukraine on Chicago’s WGN Radio. Video no. 5 is the key question that few want to ask.
As someone who once worked, and escaped from, the corridors of power, I hope that the American Republican critics of Zelenskiy can realize that this is an essential fight for freedom . Yes, an audit is a good idea—find out how much of the money doesn’t actually reach Ukraine.
Indeed, Zelenskiy’s visit revealed a difficult but necessary question: Why can’t the West give support to Ukraine to win as quickly as possible? Is it the motive of profit or the (understandable) motive of fear that seeks a slow rather than a quick victory?
I write this amid increasing news of friends and acquaintances losing lives and limbs.
Couching a deadly serious message with good-humor , Zelenskiy’s speech echoed Churchill’s address at the same place 81 years ago this week.
Yes it is possible to stand up to tyrants. And maybe in the standing up, we will awaken our own democracies while defending the freedom-loving Ukrainian people who guard the gates of the civilized world.
That would be priceless.
